So it seems two of the many big name releases next year have recently been confirmed to have special editions, or collector's editions if you prefer. God of War III, the highly anticipated slash-em-up and Heavy Rain, the just as highly anticipated interactive movie, have both had the contents of their collector's editions revealed on the official PlayStation Blog.

The God of War: Ultimate Trilogy Edition, as it's called, was announced on the European blog, and stands in contrast to the American special edition of God of War III. The package will contain a whole whack of awesome stuff, including:

• God of War III
• God of War Collection (gentle reminder, this is God of War and God of War II, remastered in HD, running at 60 fps, with Trophy support, all on one Blu-ray Disc)
• Extra game content downloadable via PlayStation Network:
  • God of War Combat Arena containing an exclusive environment and seven challenges to complete
  • Dominus character skin
  • Apollo character skin
  • Phantom of Chaos character skin
  • Forgotten Warrior character skin

• Exclusive video content downloadable via PlayStation Network:
  • God of War: Unearthing the Legend Franchise Documentary. This is a full-length documentary detailing the history of the God of War franchise. A must have for fans!

• Special audio bonus content:
  • God of War Trilogy Soundtrack – God of War, II, and III scores from the game
  • God of War: Blood and Metal EP – a heavy metal homage featuring original music inspired by God of War

• Additional content:
  • Artbook
  • Postcards

On the Heavy Rain front, collectors have the following to drool over:

The Collector’s Edition is packaged in a special ‘rain-effect’ slipcase – thanks to special embossing and other manufacturing tricks, it gives the impression of being streaked with 3D rain-drops (something that has confused a lot of people when they’ve seen it lying on my desk recently!).

But cool as that is, that’s not all. The Collector’s Edition also contains a voucher to download the following additional content from the PlayStation Store:
