Wii Fit Plus Dated (Soon) and Priced (Cheap)

Well, for Japan anyway. The torch bearer for “healthy” gaming will arrive in the land of the rising sun on October 1st. Chances are other markets will see the title around the same time, as Nintendo has to keep up their streak of holiday domination this year. More surprising though is the price.

This week’s issue of Famitsu lists Wii Fit Plus as retailing for only 2,000 JPY (about $21 US or €15) as a stand-alone title. Newcomers to the series will be able to buy the game bundled with the Balance Board for 9,800 JPY (about $104 US or €73), which is about 1,000 yen more than the original currently goes for new on Amazon.

Between this and New Super Mario Bros. Wii, even with a redesign and a price drop, will it be enough to go head-to-head with Nintendo this holiday season?

That seems unbelievable cheap, especially for Japan. Hopefully it's not cheap due to lack of features. How has Wii Sports Resort been going over in Japan? It's huge here

Wii Sports Resort moved about 500k really fast, lulled, but is continuing to sell the way that Big N first party stuff always does. However I don't see it reaching near the numbers the original hit. The Wii needs a boost from somewhere over here. If Wii Sports and MH3 don't do it, what's going to be the killer app? DQX is apparently coming in "X" number of years, but before that? Just dunno . . .

WoW! I didn't know that Wii Fit is cheaper in Japan. I guess I need to have a Wii Fit Plus badly since I have gained a lot of unwanted carbs due to slacking around, grinding for aion kinah and raiding with my guildmates. I wish the price is also cheaper in America.
